The panel event brought together leading women from a broad spectrum of fields, from fashion to the worlds of sport and science for a discussion of their own careers and, more broadly, the unique professional challenges and opportunities faced by women today. Shiffrin was joined by InStyle Fashion Features Director Laurel Pantin, panel moderator, and fellow panelists that included Shyla Raghav, climate change lead for Conservation International, and actress Carla Gugino.
“It’s an honor to celebrate the promise, potential, and excellence of professional women in the presence of so many extraordinary accomplished personalities, and to launch these beautiful new watches with Longines.” said Mikaela Shiffrin, adding: "Both elegant and sporty, the new Conquest Classic is a natural fit on my wrist. Its feminine lines and dynamic spirit make it a watch that suits my personality as an athlete and a woman.” Having served as a Longines Ambassador of Elegance since 2014, the young ski champion perfectly embodies the values of the winged hourglass brand represented in these new models.
“As women represent fifty percent of its total customer base, Longines has always been proud to support and celebrate the successes of women worldwide,” said Charles Villoz, Vice President of Longines, continuing: “We attach great importance to giving them a wide range of possible variations in all of our collections, enabling them to find the perfect fit for their taste and personality. It is with great pride we present the new models of the Conquest Classic collection, here in New York in the presence of so many inspiring female leaders.”
Mikaela Shiffrin wore the new Conquest Classic watch as she greeted the audience, signed autographs, and posed for photos following the panel discussion. The 24-year old alpine skier exhibited the same confidence in her exciting recent victories on the slopes as she surpassed the world record with seventeen wins in a single world cup season and won her third straight FIS Alpine World Cup Overall title. Longines was proud to time all these victories as the Official Timekeeper of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup and FIS Alpine World Ski Championships.
The New Conquest Classic
Longines has combined the femininity of materials and dynamic lines to create the new Conquest Classic. Perfectly suited for the women of today, it remains faithful to the brand’s iconic elegance, while offering new dials that mix mother-of-pearl, diamonds, and touches of pink. The Conquest Classic by Longines skillfully combines modernity with the refinement that defines the brand. Elegant and sleek, these latest creations are both resolutely feminine and boldly contemporary. Designed to set the pace of the modern woman’s day, they will delight those who masterfully weave together the many facets of their lives.
Available in two sizes (29.50 mm and 34 mm in diameter) and with select models featuring diamonds, the steel case of the new Conquest Classic houses a quartz movement. The collection offers five different dials – sunray blue, sunray black, sunray silver, white mother-of-pearl or black mother-of-pearl – on which pink or rhodium-plated hands revolve. Pink indexes or diamonds complete the dial of this timepiece mounted on a steel bracelet, creating lends it finesse and refinement.
